The Volgodonsk Branch of JSC "AEM-technology" "Atommash" (part of the machine-building division of Rosatom - "Atomenergomash"), assembled the lower semi-vessel of the reactor for Unit 7 of the Tianwan NPS (China).
The specialists first assembled the Bottom, the Core shell, and the flange in a vertical position. The assembly of components with a diameter of 4.5 m is carried out with maximum accuracy. The difference between the blanks is no more than 2 mm. Then the 160-ton structure was turned into a horizontal position using a turnover device and installed on a welding facility for circumferential welds.
Welding will be carried out in automatic mode for 17 days with constant heating in the weld zones from 150 to 300 ℃. A total of two circumferential welds will be welded. After that, heat treatment of the welds will be performed to give the metal the necessary properties and to remove the residual welded stresses.
The Reactor is a vertical cylindrical vessel with an elliptical bottom, inside which the core and internals are located. From above, it is hermetically sealed with the Cover with installed drives of mechanisms and controls and protection of reactors and nozzles for outputting cables of sensors for in-reactor monitoring. In the upper part of the Vessel, there are nozzles for supplying and removing the coolant, as well as nozzles for emergency supply of the coolant when the circuit is depressurized.
For Units No.7 and No.8 of the Tianwan NPS, Atommash will manufacture two Reactor Pressure Vessels with Internals, Cover and Upper Unit, and two sets of Steam Generators.
Tianwan NPS is located in Jiangsu Province, China. The first Power Units No.1 and No.2 with VVER-1000 reactors were commissioned to the Customer and put into warranty operation in 2007. Units No. 3 and No.4 were put into warranty operation in 2018.
On June 8, 2018, in Beijing, an intergovernmental Protocol and a framework contract were signed for the construction of Power Units 7 and No.8 of the Tianwan NPS with VVER-1200 reactors, which refers to the newest generation "3+". The design and construction of the facility is carried out by the Engineering Division of Rosatom State Corporation.
