The Branch of JSC “AEM-technology” “Atommash” in Volgodonsk (belongs to the engineering division of ROSATOM –  Atomenergomash) continues the manufacture and delivery of the heat-exchange equipment for Kudankulam NPP, Unit No.4, in India. The largest items of the equipment set are four Steam Generators, the second of which left the plant premises and were shipped to the construction site in India.

The delivery of the large-sized product of the first class safety from Volgodonsk to the Indian state Tamil Nadu is a complex logistic operation involving the use of several types of special transport. From the plant to the specialized berth at the Tsimlyansk reservoir, the Steam Generator will be delivered by the motor vehicle. By means of a bridge crane with the lifting capacity of 650 tons, it will be transferred to a barge and transported by river to St. Petersburg. From there, the product will be delivered to India by sea. The total length of the route will be 21,000 kilometers.

The Steam Generator Vessel is a horizontal cylindrical vessel with two elliptical bottoms, in the middle part of which there are collectors for supplying and removing the hot coolant. Its diameter is more than 4 meters, its length is about 15 meters. The weight of the equipment is 340 tons. In the upper part of the Vessel there is a steam space, in the lower part there is a heat exchange surface, which consists of 11,000 stainless steel tubes. The tubes diameter is 16 mm, the length is from 10 to 14 meters.

JSC “Atomenergomash” is a supplier of the key equipment
for Kudankulam NPP. In particular, the division’s enterprises produce Steam Generators, Reactor Coolant Pumps, Pressurizers, Reactor Coolant Pipelines, Moisture Separator Preheaters, High-Pressure Heaters, Pipe Fittings, Auxiliary pumps and other equipment of the Nuclear Island and Turbine Hall for the NPP Units No.3 and No.4.
