JSC “AEM-technology” (a part of Rosatom machine-building division – Atomenergomash) has been approved as a manufacture of equipment for “Akkuyu” Nuclear Power Plant under Construction in Turkey. After two-year time-out JSC “AEM-technology“, one of the first NPP equipment manufacturers, obtained an official manufacturer approval certificate. Certificate No.  TR-10-003 was issued on 19 September, 2017 by Turkish Atomic Energy Authority (ТАЕК, the regulating authority of Turkey).

While considering a JSC “AEM-technology” application, TAEK reviewed a number of documents submitted in accordance with   “Regulation regarding equipment procurement process and approval of manufacturers for nuclear facilities” approved on 28 May, 2015.

After the application documentation had been reviewed carefully, the production sites in Volgodonsk and Petrozavodsk were audited. The representatives of Turkish party examined production premises, measuring and testing laboratories. Special attention was paid to production processes, quality inspection at all stages of production, safety culture during NPP equipment manufacture.

One of the most important conditions of recognition as an equipment manufacturer was the availability of the testing laboratory accreditation in international system ILAC MRA. JSC “AEM-technology” is one of few Russian companies that have this accreditation according to ISO/IEC 17025.

“We were sure of obtaining a Turkish Atomic Energy Authority certificate, - JSC “AEM-technology” General director  Igor Kotov said. – Our company confirmed once again the high level of organization of production and the quality of manufactured products”.

The approval of JSC “AEM-technology” as a manufacturer authorizes the “Atommash” and “Petrozavodskmash” Branches to manufacture equipment for Turkish Project.

The inter-governmental agreement about cooperation in construction and operation of the first “Akkuyu” NPP was signed between Russia and Turkey in 2010. The project, the cost of which is estimated at twenty billion dollars, envisages the construction of four units with VVER-1200 reactors,  the total power of  which makes up 4800 MW. The first unit is going to have been commissioned by 2023.
