The industrial internship of the foreign students of Tomsk Polytechnic Institute (TPI) was completed at JSC “AEM-technology” (part of Rosatom-Atomenergomash machine building subdivision) under the guidance of the Resource Center.

13 graduate students, majoring in "Nuclear Physics and Technology" / "Nuclear Power Plant Management", representing five countries (India, Ghana, Tanzania, Nigeria and China) have received training on the production site “Atommash” in Volgodonsk.

The industrial internship of the foreign students lasted a week. Future nuclear professionals have visited the Central Plant Laboratory, Atommash Museum and the workflow of the nuclear island production. The students have learnt the design features of the reactor vessel, steam generator, pressurizer and ECCS accumulator on the real size models under the supervision of the plant engineers.

Topics of quality assurance and nuclear equipment safety became the key issue of the industrial practice. TPI graduate students have learnt about the methods of non-destructive testing and applied their knowledge on the real size model of the steam generator. Particularly, the students took part in the Eddy current, UT and PT inspections.

“The Resource Center is the unique site for the professional growth of young specialists. The main benefit of such training is its practical value, - noted Vasilina Karelina, HR Director of the Branch of JSC “AEM-technology” in Volgodonsk. The format of such training allows the graduate students to adopt the skills from the highly-skilled professionals – current employees of Atommash – and to put their knowledge into practice, working with the real size models of the nuclear equipment”.

The Volgodonsk Branch of JSC “AEM-technology” has already trained the foreign students, studying for engineering, technical maintenance and repair of Russian and foreign NPPs under the guidance of the Resource Center. 192 students, the citizens of Jordan, Vietnam, Egypt, Bangladesh, Chile, Bulgaria and Armenia, have completed the industrial internship on the production site “Atommash” since 2016.
