The Volgodonsk branch of JSC "AEM-technology" "Atommash" (part of Rosatom's mechanical-engineering division - Atomenergomash) shipped two Steam Generators for NPP "Kudankulam" to India from a specialized port terminal at the same time.
The combined road of product delivery begins in production shop. First, the devices are loaded onto conveyors using overhead travelling cranes with a lifting capacity of 600 tons. Oversized items are shipped to the special port terminal at night - when the motorways are the least full. At the time of transportation, urban services are disconnected from the network and trolleybus lines are lifted. At a specialized port terminal, two Steam Generators are alternately installed on the barge using gantry cranes with a lifting capacity of 650 tons.
In St. Petersburg, the barge will pass along the Don, Volga rivers to the Rybinsk water storage reservoir, then through Onega and Ladoga lakes. Unique devices of the first safety class can be seen in the cities: Saratov, Samara, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Yaroslavl, and Vologda. The distance will be about 3000 km.
In the port terminal of the Northern capital, Steam Generators will be part of the shipload of equipment for the nuclear power plant and will be shipped to India. The total distance - river and sea will be 21,000 km. Delivery is scheduled for 70 days.
The Steam Generator is designed to generate steam, providing rotation of the turbine. Four Steam Generators are installed in the reactor compartment of the power unit. Each diameter is more than 4 m, length is about 15 meters. The weight of the equipment is 340 tons. There is steam space in the upper part of the vessel; there is a heat exchange surface in the lower part, which consists of 11,000 stainless tubes with a total length of more than 120 km.
JSC "Atomenergomash" is a supplier of key equipment for NPP "Kudankulam". In particular, for the third and fourth Units of the power plant, the division’s companies manufacture Steam Generators, main circulation pumps, pressure compensators, main circulation pipelines, separators-steam superheaters, high-pressure heaters, pipeline valves, auxiliary pumps and other equipment of the reactor island and machine island.
Joint-Stock Company "AEM-technology", founded in 2007 in the structure of JSC "Atomenergomash", a mechanical-engineering division of the Rosatom State Corporation, is currently one of the leading Russian companies in the field of power mechanical-engineering. The company’s structure includes an engineering center staffed by experienced designers and process-engineers, as well as two production sites: The Branch of JSC "AEM-technology" "Petrozavodskmash" in Petrozavodsk and the Branch of JSC "AEM-technology" "Atommash"
