AEM-technology will manufacture equipment for the third and fourth power units Indian Kudankulam NPP

Machine–building division of Rosatom the Atomenergomash JSC has concluded a contract for complete delivery of reactor compartment equipment for the third and fourth power units of Indian Kudankulam NPP. The products will be manufactured and delivered to NPP during 2016-2018.

As general director of Atomenergomash Andrey Nikipelov commented, “This contract turns a new page in longstanding and successful work of AEM in the production of equipment for nuclear projects of India. It considerably increases our participation in construction of the country’s largest NPP that at the same time enhance our responsibility. The earlier manufactured and delivered equipment of holding has repeatedly proved its security and quality by many-years accident-free operations on dozens nuclear power plants all over the world. I am sure, that this new units of Kudankulam NPP will also take rightful place in this list”.

Within the framework of the contract the affiliated company AEM-technology JSC will manufacture the VVER-1000 reactor vessel together with internal components and an upper unit, a steam generators set, an ECCS vessels and other equipment.

“It is an important order for our Company that will ensure optimum utilization of our production sites,” underlined general director of AEM-technology Igor Kotov. “We are currently manufacturing different equipment for all NPP’s projects in the Russian Federation and for the first NPP in republic of Belarus. I am convinced that we will cope with successful delivery of required quality equipment in the contract dates for another significant foreign project which is implemented by Rosatom”.

The first stage of Kudankulam NPP with two units of VVER -1000 reactor vessels is under construction in the south of India. The plant is being built within the framework of an interstate agreement signed on 20 November 1988 as well as the annex to it of 21 June 1998. The Customer is Nuclear Power Corporation of India. The agreement for construction of the second stage of Kudankulam NPP was concluded in 2008 between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of India. The chief designer of reactor plant equipment is design bureau of OKB Gidropress JSC.

Currently Atomenergomash JSC participates in the implementation of all foreign projects of Rosatom, in particular the Akkuyu NPP in Turkey and the Hanhikivi NPP in Finland. Also, the reactor compartment equipment for Belarussian NPP, the steam generators and reactor coolant pump for Taiwan NPP in China are manufactured according to contractual terms.
