    Atommash has manufactured upper semi-vessel of reactor for Akkuyu NPP

    The specialists performed automatic welding of two circumferential welds on a welding unit for 22 days with continuous heating over 150 degrees in the area of welded joints. Upon completion of the operation, the zones of the welds of the semi-vessel were heated up to 300 degrees and re-located to a furnace for heat treatment in order to relieve stress in the welding zone and obtain the required mechanical properties of the metal. After heat treatment, the specialists shall perform machining and all range of technical inspections: visual and dimensional, ultrasonic, magnetic particle flaw detection, radiographic examination of welded joints.

    Atommash completes a steam generator manufacture key stage for the second unit of Kursk NPP-2

    Tube bundle installation is a key stage during the manufacturing process of steam generators. Within 21 days, specialists using the lathe, give a coil shape to a tube. One heat exchanger requires 11 000 stainless steel tubes with a diameter of 16 mm and a length from 11 to 17 meters. The equipment is subjected to hydraulic test and to a whole range of test operations, including eddy current test of heat exchange tubes. The Kursk NPP-2 project includes four power units with Russian reactor plants of VVER-TOI type, is being built according to the VVER-TOI project, and complies with IAEA safety requirements.

    Petrozavodskmash has shipped fastening elements and embedded parts for safety system accumulator tanks of Akkuyu NPP

    The embedded parts and fasteners are circular supports made of steel plates, about 5 m in diameter, 9 and 18 tons in weight each, respectively. From Petrozavodsk the freight was dispatched to the port of Saint Petersburg, to be further shipped by water to a dedicated mooring area at the Akkuyu NPP. Basic manufacturing stages are accomplished under the supervision of the Turkish Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NDK).

    Welding of the upper semi-vessel of the reactor for Tianwan NPP has been started at Atommash.

    This is considered to be the key milestone in manufacturing of the nuclear reactor. The upper semi-vessel has been put together from two shells and a flange, total mass of the construction is 180 tons. At welding stand professionals have begun the automatic welding of two circumferential welds. The operation is going on within 25 days upon continuous heating of weld zone with total consumption of 5000 kg of flux and 3500 kg of welding wire. The design and construction of the object are carried out by the Engineering Division of the State Corporation “Rosatom”.

    Pressurizer for AKKUYU NPP heat treated at Petrozavodskmash

    The lower semi-vessel has been recently sent for holes to be machined in it to suit electric heater units, while some nondestructive tests are being carried out on the upper one.     Atommash has performed a check assembly of the Vessel with the Internals of the MBIR research reactor

    The Multipurpose Fast Research Reactor (MBIR) will be the most powerful research Reactor in operation, under construction or under design in the world. Its main purpose is to perform mass reactor tests of innovative materials and prototypes of core elements for nuclear power systems of the 4th generation, including fast neutron reactors with fuel cycle closure, as well as thermal reactors of small and medium power. The thermal power of the new reactor will be 150 MW.

    Atommash has started manufacturing equipment for Kudankulam NPP

    Within the frames of the contract for the fifth and sixth power units of the Kudankulam NPP, JSC AEM-Technologies will manufacture and supply two nuclear reactors with internals and an upper block of the VVER-1000 type, two sets of steam generators, reactor coolant pump set bodies, main circulation piping, emergency core cooling system tanks, passive core flooding system tanks and two pressurizers. The total weight of the items will be about 6,000 tons.

    Quenching of the Reactor Pressure Vessel bottom for power unit No. 3 of the Akkuyu NPP has carried out at Atommash

    At the final stage, the item was heated in the underground oven at a maximum temperature of 910°C for nine hours. Next, the heat-treatment operators, using a crane, placed the hot blank into a caisson with water. The bottom was in the quenching tank for an hour and a half. To obtain the required mechanical properties of the metal, the item was relocated to a furnace for thermal tempering, which is carried out at 700 ° C for about 40 hours. The design and construction of the object is carried out by the Engineering Division of the State Corporation “Rosatom”.

    Atommash has shipped equipment for Akkuyu NPP, Unit no.1

    Atommash, AEM-Technologies, JSC Branch in Volgodonsk has shipped the Upper unit including the Reactor cover with nozzles, metal structures and CPS (control and protection system) drives for AKKUYU NPP, Unit No.1. The main stages of manufacturing are witnessed by the Nuclear Regulatory Agency in the Republic of Turkey.

    Petrozavodskmash performed check fit-up of pump housing for Rooppur NPP

    At all manufacturing stages the RCPS housings are subject to various types of inspection, including dye-penetrant test, ultrasonic test, radiographic test etc. The check fit-up is one of final test operations. The check point is witnessed by the representatives of the authorized organization JSC “VO Safety” and the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC). The company “AEM-Technologies” manufactures basic equipment of reactor hall for two power units of the plant.

    Atommash has started welding the upper semi-vessel of the Reactor for Unit No.5 of “Kudankulam” NPP

    After vertical assembly of two shells and flange, the 170-tonne upper semi-vessel was moved by crane to the turner and then to the welding station, where specialists started welding of two circumferential welds. Then the semi-vessel is transferred to a heat treatment furnace to obtain the required mechanical properties of the metal. Specialists will carry out a number of necessary inspections of welded joints after heat treatment. The semi-vessel will then be prepared for internal corrosion-resistant overlaying in the welded areas.

    Atommash has started shipping passive core flooding system tanks for power unit No.1 for Akkuyu NPP

    At the final stage, the products undergone hydraulic tests successfully, which showed strength and tightness of the construction, as well as high level of quality of the manufactured tanks. The passive core flooding system tanks are covered with an easily removable coating, which will provide a level of surface protection for products during sea transportation to the site of Akkuyu NPP.

    Atommash has manufactured the first Steam Generator for Unit 2 of the Kursk NPP-2

    One of the final stages of the equipment manufacturing is the welding of the Steam Generator bottoms. Welding them to the vessels begins after completing the item with heat exchange tubes. Automatic welding of two bottoms is performed under heating at a temperature of 120-190 degrees for 10 days. It takes 650 kg of wire and 1100 kg of flux to perform two welds. Further, the specialists carried out local heat treatment of welds and a full range of technical inspection, including hydraulic tests and eddy current test of heat exchange tubes.

    AEM-Technologies, JSC shipped the reactor pressure vessel for Akkuyu NPP, Unit No.2

    The specialists of IZHORSKIYE ZAVODY JSC started the manufacturing of the reactor pressure vessel in Mach 2019 according to the Contract in force. The whole complex of tests was completed during the manufacturing, including the hydraulic tests of the reactor pressure vessel with the top head, as well as the test assembly of the internals with the top head. All geometric parameters, alignment of the components and a high quality of the manufactured item were confirmed by the commission.

    Petrozavodskmash performed check fit-up of pump housing for Akkuyu NPP (Turkey)

    During the fit-up there has been checked assemblability of the RCPS spherical housing with the spacer being the suspension component as well as with the inner cone. Upon that, there have been met all the requirements of the design documentation related to geometrical dimensions of joints and forces of fasteners tightening. The representatives of the authorized organization JSC “VO “Safety” and the Turkish Atomic Energy Authority (TAEK) have rated the results of the performed operation as favourable ones.

    Blank for reactor bottom for Akkuyu NPP was performed at Atommash

    The work was carried out at thermo-press section in several stages. Forged steel blank in the form of pipe with weight over 80 tons and diameter of 2 meters is preheated in furnace at maximum temperature of 1100 degrees for about 7 hours. Then, using crane, they are sent to pressing machine. Next, blank is unbend using two stamps. The force of pressing machine is 10,000 tons. The main condition in unbending process is not to lower temperature of blank below 800 degrees. Unbending allows to get seamless blank with size of 6x6 meters for forming bottom of nuclear reactor. Sheet forgings of such dimensions are not transportable, and manufacturing technology does not allow welded joints on item.

    Atommash completed key stage in manufacture of bottom of nuclear reactor for Unit 3 of “Akkuyu NPP”

    At procuring site, specialists with the help of oxygen-gas cutting performed cutting out of sector. For this, guides were installed inside blanks, along which gas-cutting machine moves along the length of blank. With the help of natural gas and oxygen, torch punches through 300 mm thick metal and performs clean cut. The plant's specialists have improved type of cutter nozzle, and now cutting is 4 times faster: two hours instead of eight.Then blank was sent to thermal furnace for annealing. In furnace, item was held for five hours at temperature of 620 Celsius degree.

    Atommash has increased the efficiency of manufacturing the Passive Core Flooding System for the first power unit of the "Akkuyu" NPP (Turkey)

    Experts assembled and welded stainless steel shells 60 mm thick. Inside each tank, decks were installed, which are a prefabricated welded structure from a round bar with a diameter of 4 meters and a mass of 495 kg. The decks are designed for the safe movement of service personnel inside the tanks. The final stage in the assembly of the vessels is the welding of the two bottoms with the vessel. Atommash will manufacture the Passive Core Flooding System hydraulic tanks for the Units No.1 and No.3 of the "Akkuyu" NPP under construction.

    Petrozavodskmash started weld overlaying of steam generator headers for Kudankulam NPP

    An anticorrosive overlay is applied to the internal surface of the header. More than 2 tons of welding materials are used during welding and weld overlaying of one item. The weight of a finished header is more than 16 tons. Each manufacturing stage includes quality inspection comprising visual and dimensional inspection, dye-penetrant, ultrasonic and radiographic testing.Petrozavodskmash is planning to ship a set of 8 header bodies for steam generators of the fifth unit of Kudankulam NPP by the end of this year.
